On Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2:21 p.m., Santa Monica Police officers responded to the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Pico Boulevard regarding a report of vandalism. When officers arrived, they spoke to a woman who said she was involved in a traffic dispute with a man. When she stopped her vehicle, she said the man got out of his vehicle and slashed all four tires on her car with a knife, then drove off. Responding officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle in the 1000 block of Colorado Boulevard and arrested him. The suspect was identified as Alfonso Saucedo Jr., 32, of Santa Cruz. His bail was set at $20,000.
On Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9:17 p.m., police responded to the 1800 block of 16th Street regarding an assault. When officers arrived, they spoke to a youth who said he was playing with a friend by throwing sticks to pop balloons. A stick fell near the suspect, who approached the youth and his friend and asked why they were throwing things at him. The youth said he told the suspect he was not throwing sticks and that it was an accident. The suspect then struck the youth with his fist. The youth was not seriously injured. The suspect was later arrested and booked for assault on a child. He was identified as Delbert Rene Reyes, 18, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $50,000.
On Friday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m., two undercover vice officers saw two female pedestrians walking in the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Pier Avenue. The officers stopped and talked to them, and during the conversation the suspects offered the officers sex for money. Both suspects were placed under arrest for prostitution. The suspects were identified as Theresa Marie Lugo, 19, of Anaheim, and Helen Eva Spry, 19, of Gardena. Their bail was set at $10,000 each.
On Friday, Sept. 29, at 6:42 p.m., police responded to the 300 block of Colorado Boulevard — Macy’s — regarding a theft. When officers arrived, they spoke to a loss prevention officer who said two suspects walked into the store, stole $143 worth of clothing and left without paying. Once outside, the loss prevention officer attempted to make an arrest, but the suspects began to fight with the loss prevention officer. The suspects were eventually detained and arrested for strong arm robbery. The first suspect was identified as Tony Donnell Johnson, 40, of Los Angeles. He was booked for robbery and a parole violation. The second suspect was identified as Jana Marcelina Collins, 23, of Los Angeles. She was booked for strong arm robbery and a probation violation. No bail was set for either of the suspects.
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 2 a.m., police responded to the 1200 block of 14th Street regarding a burglary that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they spoke to the resident of the home who said he heard noises coming from the kitchen area. When he went out to investigate, he said he saw the suspect standing in the kitchen area. He asked her what she was doing, and the suspect said something and left the residence. Responding officers stopped a subject off Arizona Avenue, where the victim positively identified the suspect. She was arrested for burglary and taken to the Santa Monica Jail. Three bottles of liquor and keys were recovered and returned to the owner. The suspect was identified as Toni Ray Sharp, 49, a transient. Her bail was set at $50,000.
On Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 2:40 p.m., police responded to the 2600 block of Lincoln Boulevard — Albertsons — regarding a theft. When officers arrived, they spoke to the loss prevention officer, who said the suspect entered the store, placed 15 liquor bottles into a shopping cart and left the store, failing to pay for the merchandise. Once outside the store, a loss prevention officer contacted the suspect, at which time the suspect ran, leaving the alcohol in the parking lot. Responding officers stopped the suspect in the 2500 block of Lincoln Boulevard where he was arrested for grand theft. The value of the liquor was $499.95, police said. The suspect was identified as Steven Antonie Lyles, 34, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $20,000.
On Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Euclid Avenue regarding an assault. When officers arrived, they spoke to a woman, who said she got into an argument with her cousin — the suspect — over money. She said that during the argument, the suspect punched her in the face and also tried to strike her with a metal rod. The suspect left the location. The investigation is ongoing.
