On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Santa Monica Police officers arrested a man in the 900 block of 21st Street who was wanted in connection with a child annoyance incident that occurred a day earlier in the 900 block of 20th Street. The suspect was identified as Charles Evien Maxwell, 43. He was booked at the Santa Monica Jail and charged with trespassing and child annoyance. An investigation revealed that Maxwell was also wanted in the state of Nevada on a fugitive warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. No bail was set.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, at 9:10 a.m., officers responded to the 2100 block of Lincoln Boulevard — UNOCAL gas station — regarding a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they spoke with an employee who said that a woman entered the gas station and attempted to take items without paying. The employee confronted the suspect, who left the store and walked across the street to Bill’s Liquor, police said. The suspect reappeared with a bottle of wine. The employee said the suspect charged at him with the wine bottle, threatening to hit him with it. The employee ran and the suspect allegedly chased him. The suspect then broke the bottle on the street and threatened to stab the employee, police said. Officers responded and placed the suspect in custody. She was booked for assault with a deadly weapon. She was identified as Rakisha Graham, 42.

On Saturday, Oct. 7, at 3:40 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of Fourth Street regarding suspicious activity. When officers arrived, they spotted two men wandering around a parking garage. Police said the men appeared to be hiding items under their clothing. The officers approached the men and during an investigation discovered several items that did not belong to them, including a cell phone, CDs, a DVD player, flashlight and fishing equipment. The men were arrested for burglary. They were identified as Richard Measel, 43, and David Fortenbury, 30.

On Friday, Oct. 6, at 11:15 p.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the Santa Monica Pier parking lot for a minor traffic violation. An investigation revealed the driver had no license. He also had outstanding warrants, police said. A passenger in the car was searched and officers found a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamines in his possession. Another passenger was released. The driver, who was arrested for driving without a license and outstanding warrants, was identified as Omar Magallon, 19. The passenger, who was arrested for possession of narcotics, was identified as Jamie Talavera, 21.

On Friday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Lincoln Boulevard — Albertsons — regarding a theft in progress. When officers arrived, they spoke with a store employee who said a suspect entered the market and began to place food and other items into a bag and then left, failing to pay for the items. Once outside the store, the suspect was confronted by store employees and began to fight with them, police said. The employees managed to contain the suspect, who was later placed into custody by police. The suspect was arrested for strong arm robbery. He was identified as Dwayne Parker, 46. The value of the items seized was estimated at $15.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, at 6:10 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Pico Boulevard — Virginia Avenue Park — regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they spoke to a victim who said he was playing basketball with friends when he got into an argument with the suspect. At one point during the argument, the suspect ran to his car and retrieved a semi-automatic handgun, which he allegedly pointed at the victim, threatening to kill him. At that point, the victim left the scene and called police. When officers arrived, the victim identified the suspect, who was placed under arrest. Officers searched his vehicle and recovered the weapon. The suspect, who was identified as Thomas Lim, 21, was booked for assault with a deadly weapon.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1:40 a.m., officers on patrol in the 800 block of Strand Street stopped a suspect who was allegedly riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in violation of the municipal code. When officers searched the suspect, they found a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine. The suspect, identified as Levon Turner, 48, was booked for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Palisades Park regarding an attempted robbery. When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who said she was rolling along in her wheelchair when a woman approached her and tried to snatch her wallet, which was hanging by a string around her neck. The victim said she fought with the suspect, who pulled out a knife and slashed her wrist, creating a one-inch gash, police said. The suspect then fled without the wallet. The victim notified police, who apprehended the suspect a short time later. She was identified as Austria Giancarlo, 49.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Lincoln Boulevard regarding a report of malicious mischief. When officers arrived, they spoke to witnesses who said they saw three men spray-painting walls in the area. Officers detained one suspect, who was identified by witnesses. Officers said the suspect had paint on his hands and clothes matching that which was found on the walls. The suspect was arrested for vandalism. He was identified as Ricky Gomez, 18. Officers are still searching for the other two suspects.
