It’s the weekend, but what to do? There’s contemporary dance with a generous dose of physical science at the Miles Playhouse. Or there’s paper-making at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, where you can also start your holiday shopping in the new Gracie gift store. Bergamot Station has so many outstanding exhibitions up right now that you could easily overdose on visual art while you’re there. And if you’re musically inclined and under 18, you can join the new youth orchestra. Or you could just stay at home and watch TV.  But you don’t want to stay at home and watch TV, do you? Face it, it’s 467 channels and nothing to watch. I’d suggest dance ... and Bergamot ... and shopping at Gracie ... and ...

The Miles Playhouse will host the premiere performance of a work in progress, “Rage to Know,” an evening multi-media dance based on the leading theories in modern physics. This collaborative work between digital media artist Michael Masucci and choreographer Donna Sternberg explores the nature of reality according to current physics theories. Live action, computer animation and motion graphics alter notions of time and space, creating an environment where the unexpected can and does happen. Following the performance, Sternberg will lead a discussion on the interaction of art and science. Check the Donna Sternberg and Dancers web site for ticket information. This project is funded by the Santa Monica CO-ARTS Grant Program and the Santa Monica Arts Commission.
