On Tuesday. Oct. 17, at 7:55 a.m., Santa Monica Police officers responded to 1235 Second Street — Parking Structure 2 — regarding a sexual assault. When officers arrived, they contacted the victim, who said she was riding in an elevator in the structure when a man entered and began masturbating. The victim said the man tried to grab her, at which time she kicked him and ran out of the elevator. A short time later, officers patrolling Palisades Park located a man who fit the description of the suspect. The victim was brought to the scene and positively identified the man as her attacker, police said. The man was arrested for assault with the intent to commit rape, indecent exposure and possession of marijuana, police said. He was identified as Thomas Judd, 53, a transient. His bail was set at $103,866. Judd had five outstanding warrants, police said.
On Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 2:48 a.m., officers responded to the 2300 block of 28th Street regarding a possible rape. When officers arrived, they spoke with a woman who said that her friend had raped her. Officers drove to the friend’s residence, where he was arrested for sexual assault. The suspect was identified as Mario Anthony Gallardo, 34, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $100,000, however, the case was rejected by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, according to police.
On Monday, Oct. 16, at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to an apartment building in the 3000 block of Main Street after receiving a call of a burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they noticed the window of an apartment had been pried open. Officers heard noises coming from inside the apartment and set up a perimeter outside the building. Officers waited outside, and when the suspect exited the front door, officers took her into custody. The suspect, who turned out to be the ex-wife of the tenant, was wearing clothes that did not belong to her, police said. She was arrested for burglary. The suspect was identified as Melody Mann, 37, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $50,000.
On Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 4:20 p.m., officers on routine patrol stopped a vehicle at the corner of Lincoln Boulevard and Rose Avenue because the driver was playing his music too loud. Upon further investigation, officers discovered the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was on probation for narcotics related offenses. During the impounding of the vehicle, officers said they discovered a hidden compartment inside the car’s console. Inside, officers said they found a plastic baggy filled with cocaine. The driver was arrested for possession of narcotics and for the hidden compartment. He was identified as Juan Valdovinos, 21, of Los Angeles. No bail was set because of the probation violation, police said.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, at 8:13 p.m., undercover vice officers went to the Shiatsu Massage parlor in the 1900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard following complaints of prostitution at that location. An undercover officer entered the location and paid for a massage. During his massage, the masseuse offered additional sexual services for money. An agreement was made and the officer gave a predetermined signal, at which time other officers entered the room. Young Sook Pang, 61, of El Segundo, was arrested. No bail information was provided by the SMPD.
