House-sitting can be a thankless job
Thursday, Oct. 19, at 12:30 a.m.
Santa Monica police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Raymond Avenue regarding a burglary. The resident had been away on vacation for a week, and upon returning that morning, noticed someone had been living in her apartment. There were clothing, luggage and toiletries that did not belong to her in the apartment. Through further investigation, officers identified the suspect and issued a warrant for her arrest. On Nov. 1, the suspect was arrested by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department and transported and booked at the Santa Monica Jail. The suspect was identified as Angela Lynne Fante-Pettiet, 38, from San Bernardino. She was charged with burglary, and her bail was set at $50,000.

Monday, Oct. 30, at 11:50 a.m.
Officers responded to 631 Wilshire Boulevard — a Sprint store — regarding a subject who had thrown and broken items that were on display inside the store. The suspect was upset about a delay in customer service. The suspect left the store, but responding officers detained him just outside. The suspect was identified as Mark Anthony Scott, 39, from Marina del Rey. He was charged with vandalism, and his bail was set at $20,000.

Monday, Oct. 30, at 3:10 p.m.
Officers responded to the 500 block of Wilshire Boulevard regarding a subject fighting with firefighters who were attempting to treat him for injuries he had sustained while riding a bus. The subject had fallen inside the bus and hit his shoulder. The suspect was identified as Larry Douglas, 43, a transient. He was arrested for assault and battery on emergency personnel. His bail was set at $20,000. There were no injuries to the firefighters.

Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 8:40 a.m.
Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1300 block of 14th Street regarding a burglary. The victim said he was inside the residence when the suspect forced open a window and entered the residence. The victim detained the suspect inside the apartment. The suspect was in possession of a wallet and cash that belonged to the victim. When the victim attempted to call police, the suspect broke free and fled. The victim was able to provide information regarding the vehicle the suspect fled in, and officers responding to the area observed the fleeing vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle, the suspect was identified by the victim and arrested for burglary. The suspect was identified as Lisa Marie Wood, 44, a transient. Her bail was set at $50,000. A wallet, credit cards and $15 in cash were recovered at the scene. Wood was involved in a burglary at the same location six months ago.

Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10:35 a.m.
Officers responded to ZJ Boarding House at 2619 Main Street regarding a shoplifter. The suspect was followed by store employees. When officers responded to the area, they observed the suspect being detained in the 400 block of Pacific Avenue by store employees. They claimed the suspect had taken a jacket from the store’s rack, gone into a dressing room, concealed the jacket under his shirt and left without paying. The suspect refused to stop when confronted and fled. The suspect was identified as Evan Anthony Bento, 25, a transient. He was arrested for grand theft, and his bail was set at $20,000. The jacket, valued at $500, was recovered.

Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 12:50 a.m.
Officers on routine patrol observed a subject in the 2000 block of Ocean Avenue, in the park area, in violation of a municipal code prohibiting people from being in the park after midnight. Officers approached the suspect, and a search of his person revealed a hypodermic needle, which contained heroin. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Santa Monica Jail for a parole violation and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was identified as Anthony Arthur Nevarez, 38, a transient. Because he was held for violating his parole, no bail was set.

Thursday, Nov. 2, at 8:30 p.m.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of 16th Street regarding an assault and battery. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with the victim, who claimed she was assaulted by her intoxicated husband, from whom she had been separated for the past two years. Officers said that when questioned, the husband would not answer. Based on information from the victim and another witness, the suspect was arrested for domestic violence. An emergency protective order was also issued. The suspect was identified as Gabriel Lopez Gonzales, 39, from Santa Monica. His bail was set at $20,000.

Saturday, Nov. 4, at 10:25 p.m.
Santa Monica Police officers responded to 1431 Third Street Promenade — Gotham Hall — regarding a fight. Upon arrival, officers saw the doorman wrestling with two suspects on the ground. Officers detained the suspects at the scene. Officers then spoke with the doorman, who said the suspects had been refused entry for not being dressed appropriately. The doorman said the suspects began to scream and yell and then assaulted him, punching him on the left side of his head and in the jaw. Both suspects were arrested and given citations. The suspects were identified as Estaban Terceros, 35, from Los Angeles, and Jaime Vejar Terminel, 27, also from Los Angeles.
