PJs and pals
PS # 1 Elementary School presents “Pajama Story Time,” an end-of-the-day event where children join their families and friends as they hear bedtime stories, sing songs and enjoy refreshments. The school presents this event monthly throughout the school year, and each story time features various special readers from the PS #1 community.
The PS # 1 students and their families invite the community to join them for a cozy way to end the week and get ready for a good night’s sleep. Attendees are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed animal.
The next “Pajama Story Time” will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, at 6:30 p.m., inside PS # 1 Elementary School’s library, located at 1454 Euclid Street, Santa Monica. Admission is free, but RSVPs are strongly suggested.

Boyle feted at film fest
The American Cinematheque at the Aero Theatre presents a memorial tribute screening to the late actor Peter Boyle. A double feature screening of two of his films will be shown on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
First up is a screening of “Taxi Driver” (1976). Boyle plays veteran cabbie “Wizard,” who holds court at the Beltmore Cafeteria, expounding on that “pursuit of happiness thing” available to all in this “American free country.” Martin Scorsese directed and Paul Schrader wrote the script.
Next on the same bill is “Joe” (1970), directed by John G. Avildsen (“Rocky”). This low-budget, indie film traces the adversarial relationship between a white-collar father and his hippie daughter. Susan Sarandon and Patrick McDermont co-star. Written by Norman Wexler.
All screenings are at the Max Palevsky Theatre at the Aero, 1328 Montana Ave. Tickets are available through www.fandango.com. General admission is $10, $7 for Cinematheque members, $9 for seniors (65 and older) and students with valid ID card. 24-Hour information is available by calling (323) 466-FILM.
