Dear Dorie,

Can you tell me your thoughts regarding the introduction of solid foods for a 4-month old?

Dear Dorie,

-- Feeding Frenzy

Dear Feeding,

First and foremost, check with your pediatrician regarding the introduction of solid foods for your baby. There are a number of contributing factors for readiness and he/she will be able to advise you more thoroughly.

That said, current research indicates that the age for the introduction of solids can be anywhere from 4 months to 6 months or later, depending on the needs of the child.

If your infant is growing consistently and your breast- or bottle-feeding is sufficient, then my OPINION is, the later the better.
