# Santa Monica photographer Irene Benavente's images shown at Imaging Asia 2005 in Korea

Local fine-art photographer Irene Benavente has created four award-winning images that were chosen for display at the Imaging Asia 2005 convention in Daegu, Korea, March 21-27.

By special invitation of the South Korean government, Benavente’s fine art photographs made an appearance at Asia’s definitive showcase of imaging technology, services and products, hosted by Professional Photographers of Korea. The images received honors in Professional Photographers of America’s International Print Competition and were invited to Imaging Asia as a part of PPA’s prestigious Photo Collection.

As part of a display that honors the results of PPA’s worldwide competition, Benavente’s photos did lend credibility and prestige to the first regional photography competition of the Asian Pacific Rim, which took place at the convention. Benavente’s work also will help to promote the art of photography on an international scale, as it was viewed and studied by thousands of Asia’s best professional photographers.

PPA, a worldwide association, exists to assist its more than 14,000 members in achieving their professional, artistic and fraternal goals; promote public awareness of the profession and to advance the making in all of its disciplines as an art, a science and a visual recorder of history.

Benavente is an internationally known fine-art photographer and her artwork has been shown in galleries in the USA, as well as China, Canada and France.
