The Santa Monica City Council recently passed a law forbidding the public from smoking on the beach. Add this to prohibitions against alcohol and dogs on the beach, and some citizens are beginning to feel as though an unreasonable amount of their freedom is being taken.

So this week, Q-Line wants to know, “Do you think it is OK for smoking to be prohibited on the beach in the name of public health or do you think this unfairly violates the freedom of Santa Monica’s citizens?”

Call (310) 285-8106 with your responses before Friday at 5 p.m. We’ll print them in the weekend edition. Please limit your comments to a minute or less. It might help to think first about the wording of your response.
