# Westside Special Olympics aquatics meet returns to LMU pool Saturday

Special Olympians are gearing up for an aquatic challenge. On Saturday, April 16, Westside Special Olympics and Loyola Marymount University will hold their annual Special Olympics Aquatics meet.

More than 125 athletes from Antelope Valley, San Gabriel Valley, Tri-Valley, Long Beach, the Westside and greater Los Angeles will participate.

Westside Special Olympics (WSO) is a community-based, nonprofit organization supported by the city of Santa Monica and private donations. As a branch of Special Olympics Southern California and an accredited chapter of the International Special Olympics organization, WSO promotes and implements year-round athletic training and competitions for children and adults with mental retardation.

The Special Olympics Aquatics meet will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at LMU’s outdoor pool in Westchester.
