In celebrating the diversity, strength and excellence of Los Angeles, The Central City Association of Los Angeles honored New Directions with the association’s distinguished “Treasures of Los Angeles Award” at its 11th annual awards luncheon, emceed by Dick Van Dyke.

In recognizing New Directions’ commitment to rehabilitating and empowering homeless veterans in Los Angeles, the association also commended New Directions’ “Therapeutic Community,” which promotes the elimination of antisocial and criminal behavior, development of work ethics, community involvement and good citizenship.

New Directions, Inc., is a long-term drug and alcohol treatment program providing housing, food, clothing, counseling, job training and psychiatric services for more than 800 homeless veterans a year. The agency operates four residential rehabilitation facilities, including the 156-bed Regional Opportunity Center, the 43-bed New Directions North for homeless veterans with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders, and two homes in Mar Vista for homeless women veterans.
