For Mr. (John H.) Whitehead to use the last 30 seconds of an interview that Mr. O’Reilly did with Hillary Clinton for the premise of his opinion (“Politicians, pigs and the media,” page 5, May 12) is to mislead his readers at best and at worst inserts him as a lead character in George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.”

The interview was American politics at its best. The interview Bill O’Reilly did with Hillary Clinton was extremely thorough and tough. Sen. Clinton answered every question and follow up question in great detail. It helped me, a conservative leaning person, to have a better understanding and greater respect for Sen. Clinton both as an individual and a politician. Maybe an interview with Larry King would be more to Mr. Whitehead’s liking?

This interview was a win win for everybody. O’Reilly gets the ratings, Clinton gets her message out to people who might not otherwise listen and we the public get a better understanding of our political candidates.

One last thought. Let’s quit blaming our elected politicians for everything we feel is wrong in America. I believe the vast majority of politicians (on both sides) do take their jobs seriously, they do care about solving our problems and they are interested in what’s best for “we the people.”

If you feel otherwise than you need to pay more attention when you vote.
