You could be the next Maya Angelou or Walt Whitman.

The Famous Poets Society announces that more than $50,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded this year to amateur poets. Poets from the Santa Monica area, especially beginners, are encouraged to enter for their chance to win.

To enter, send one poem of 21 lines or less to: Free Poetry Contest, 1626 N. Wilcox Ave. # 126, Hollywood, CA., 90028, or enter on-line at www.famouspo-ets.com. A winner’s list will be sent to all entrants. The deadline for entering is June 30.
