# Santa Monica Restaurants Earn More 'A' Health Grades Since 1999

Source: LA County Health Department Since Santa Monica adopted the LA County Health Department’s grading system in 1999, food establishments have been forced to clean themselves up. The number of restaurants that have been given an “A” which is the highest mark to get, has risen steadily for the past four years, even surpassing the county.
