More than 5,500 units of blood are expected to be pledged in the next several days throughout Southern California.

ABC/Disney’s 95.5 KLOS will host their 24th Annual Blood Drive this week in partnership with the American Red Cross and the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. The event, which is widely recognized as the largest blood donation event in the U.S., is expected to set a world record this year for the largest simultaneous blood donation with more than 5,500 units pledged so far.

The KLOS Blood Drive began 24 years ago as a single-site, single-day event collecting 200 units of blood and has grown into a 17-site, three-day event, collecting more than 6,250 units last year alone and more than 70,000 units collectively. 95.5 KLOS personalities will make appearances at several of the donation sites during the three-day event, including Gary Moore at the American Red Cross in Santa Monica today and Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Blood can be donated at the Santa Monica Red Cross chapter, 1450 11th St., from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The 24th Annual KLOS Blood Drive will take place on Aug. 4, 5 and 6\. Participants in this year’s drive will receive a commemorative 24th Annual KLOS Blood Drive T-shirt and one general admission ticket to see either Ozzfest on Saturday, Aug. 20, or Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers on Sunday, Aug. 21st at the Hyundai Pavilion while supplies last. Tickets donated by Avalon Attractions.
