# Santa Monica YMCA Offers September Lecture Series on Medicare, Colon Cancer and Wellness

The Santa Monica Family YMCA will be offering a free lecture series in September covering various adult wellness topics.

The first lecture, called “A New Prescription Drug Plan called Medicare Part D” will be held on Sept. 13 at 11:30 a.m. on the second floor of the YMCA senior center.

Attendees will learn about the benefits of the new program along with how it will likely affect current insurance coverage.

The second lecture, covering the basics of colon cancer, is scheduled for Sept. 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the same location.

About 105,000 new cases of colon cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. each year. The last lecture, dubbed “Integrative East-West Approaches to a Wellness Program” will be held on Sept. 29 at noon in the YMCA’s community room. Health experts will discuss such topics as meditation, TAI Chi and diet plans.

All events will be held at the YMCA’s Santa Monica branch at 1332 Sixth St. Those interested in attending are asked to register at the member service desk.
