# Santa Monica College Announces October Concert Lineup in SMC Concert Hall

Jazz, guitar, orchestral and bebop musical styles are brought in performance to Santa Monica College in October.

The October concerts are all held in the SMC Concert Hall, 1900 Pico Blvd. The lineup is as follows: ■ Sunday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. — SMC Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of James Smith, the orchestra’s performance will feature Howard Hanson’s “Romantic Symphony.” Tickets are $10 ■ Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 11:15 a.m. — Matthew Elgart Classical Guitar Recital. A performance that will include the works of Bach, Satie and Ponce. Admission is free. ■ Sunday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. — SMC Jazz Band. Under the direction of conductor Keith Fiddmont, the band will perform big band and modern jazz pieces. Renowned guest artists frequently perform with the ensemble. Tickets are $10\. ■ Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. — Jon Mayer Quartet. Mayer, a playful bebop pianist, brings his quartet to the SMC stage. Tickets are $10\. ■ Sunday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. — SMC Concert Band. Under the direction of conductor Kevin McKeown, the ensemble performs traditional and contemporary music written specifically for the concert band. Tickets are $10\. ■ Thursday, Oct. 26 at 11:15 a.m. — SMC Jazz Band Vocalists with Jon Mayer. Keith Fiddmont will direct the show. Admission is free.
