Even though the first day of summer has come and gone, the Summer SOULstice celebration will party on.

The Sixth Annual Main Street Santa Monica Summer SOULstice is coming to Main Street this weekend, featuring live music, a scavenger hunt with a $1,000 Main Street Shopping Spree Grand Prize and more than 90 more prizes, pony rides, a pet-ting farm, a sidewalk sale, a Zen Lounge and free massage for senior citizens.

Several tribute bands — Stones, Dylan, Doors, Heart, and Neil Young — as well as DJs, Indie Music from Indie 103 and Ifanz, jazz, world music, and the Santa Monica High School Choir are just part of the fun.

The Main Street Business Improvement Association is sponsoring the event, which will be held Sunday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Main Street between Pico Boulevard and Marine Street. The sidewalk sale is on Saturday, June 24.

Activities will be in parking lots, courtyards and on select side streets. Many Main Street merchants will have in-store parties or be offering items on sale as part of the sidewalk sale.

From noon to 7 p.m. there will be dozens of bands playing along Main Street. ■ Because of the enthusiastic reaction to the tribute bands for the last three years, Highway 61 Revisted (a Dylan tribute); The Neil Deal (a tribute to Neil Young); Peace Frog (The Doors tribute band); and The Rolling Clones (a Stones tribute band) will be back, along with Heartless (a tribute to Heart), and The Bone Sharks (a tribute to surf music). ■ There also will be world music at the First Federal Lot, sponsored by World Café, featuring Kwanza Jones, Jacqueline Fuentes, and the 13-piece west African band Najite & Olokun Prophecy; Indie music sponsored by Indie 103 (at Hollister and Main), featuring Mother Superior, the Smoggy Mountain Boys, McCrea Adams Band, and Diggin Deep Band; Indie music (at Main and Marine) sponsored by Ifanz, featuring Maitreya, Wing, Bad Baby Sitter, and special guests Benny “Into The Night” Mardones” and Bill Quateman; “handmade” music (at the Edgemar courtyard) sponsored by Edgemar, featuring Many Axes, and Pask & McNalley; and jazz (at the New Orleans Building courtyard) featuring Joe Gaeta & Friends.

Traffic Events presents the Zen Lounge, featuring DJs Simply Jeff, Black Liquid, and Ecco, will be in lot 26 at Strand and Main.

And the Samohi Choir will perform excerpts from their summer musical production of “The Sound of Music” at the children’s activity lot between Ashland and Hill, next to LF Stores.

For the kids, there will be pony rides, a petting farm, face-painting and balloon twisting with Rockie the Clown; Jersey Jim, Comedy Magician, and a jumper sponsored by the Ocean Park Association.

Just added to the event: Chef Harry, the Watermelon Chef (www.chefharry.com). SCAVENGER HUNT Because of the overwhelming response to and participation in the Scavenger Hunt for the last three years, there will be a new one this year. As in the past, it’s an opportunity for participants to win big prizes. Contestants can win a grand prize — a $1,000 Main Street shopping spree; a second grand prize — a Sprint cell phone from the Sprint Store on Main Street; a third grand prize — an outfit and two personal in-home fashion consultations from Sewjeannie; a fourth grand prize — a bike from Bike Attack; a fifth grand prize — art from the new Applegate Gallery, or one of more than 90 other prizes including prizes worth $200 or more from Aura Shop, Bravo Pizzeria, California Heritage Museum, Earth Accents, LF Stores, Malia, Moonlight Rugs, Ocean Park Merchants Mart, Oz Santa Monica, Patagonia, Peet’s Coffee, Photo Grafica, Piero, and Tails of Santa Monica.

Scavenger Hunt clue sheets are available at www.mainstreetsm.com/cluesheet06.html, as well as participating stores through June 25, and on the day of the SOULstice at information tables at Hollister and Main and the First Federal lot, between Ashland and Hill.

“SOULstice Playground” “Barcopa” lot between Ashland and Hill, west side: 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Pony rides, petting farm, Rockie the Clown, Jersey Jim, comedy magician; Chef Harry, the Watermelon Chef, and a jumper.
