Gladstones in Malibu recently hosted a group of boys and girls from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Youth Foundation from Compton, Lennox and San Dimas for a day at the beach. The event featured all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw, potato salad and ice cream.

The sheriff’s foundation provides at-risk youth in the economically disadvantaged neighborhoods of Los Angeles County with safe opportunities to grow and develop.

Bill Casto, Santa Monica Elks chairman, was in charge of obtaining mementos for the children. Maui and Sons, maker of surfboards, presented T-shirts to each of the attendees. There were eight Santa Monica Elks at the event to show support for the foundation.
