A Santa Monica local returns to her home turf at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center with a warm welcome.

Santa Monica resident and veteran healthcare professional, Kathleen Hunt, has returned to Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center as its chief nursing officer.

Hunt has a history with the hospital dating back to 1977, when she started as a staff nurse in cardiac rehabilitation. She worked her way through the management ranks and was director of cardio-pulmonary and imaging services when UCLA Healthcare acquired Santa Monica Hospital in 1995.

Hunt then became the first director to oversee departments at both the Westwood and Santa Monica medical centers. As director of international services, she had responsibility for all surgical services and the catheterization labs at both facilities. Most recently, she was interim director of the emergency and transportation departments at the Westwood facility.

“Kathleen brings a wealth of experience and considerable talents to this crucial position and we are excited to have her back at Santa Monica-UCLA on a full-time basis,” said Posie Carpenter, chief administrative officer.

Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree in health care from Redlands University and a master’s degree in business administration from La Verne University.
