I am appalled beyond belief that our city would consider \[restricting smoking in apartment buildings\]. Our homes are our last refuge in a city that has banned us from nearly every public space.

All for enjoying a legal product that can be purchased easily in Santa Monica. If smoke was as dangerous as some claim, tobacco would have been banned a long time ago.

You are catering to a bunch of nutters right out of the movie “Safe” — I recommend seeing this film. I’m sure they will show up in full force, as usual to your meeting.

Most smokers feel they have no choice but to be silent in the hate-filled climate. Some risk losing their jobs, health insurance (many don’t even tell their doctors), and now their homes. I guess you need to be a property owner — rich — in this city to be allowed individual freedoms. I miss the Santa Monica that was once tolerant, easy going and fun loving.

Remember, the “moral majority” are often neither.
