Actor Pierce Wallace will perform his original one-man play about President Lyndon B. Johnson on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Santa Monica Playhouse.

"Reflections of a Tough Texan: The Legacy of Lyndon Johnson" explores the 36th president's dramatic rise and fall during the Civil Rights Movement and Vietnam War era. Wallace wrote the production and has performed it 11 times, with nine performances at the Santa Monica venue.

The educational show examines Johnson's complex political legacy through Wallace's portrayal of the controversial president who championed civil rights legislation while escalating U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

Wallace's previous performances have drawn notable audience members, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and actor Casey Affleck, who attended earlier shows.

The Santa Monica Playhouse, located at 1211 4th Street, will host the Friday evening performance. The venue has become a regular home for Wallace's production, which he describes as both interesting and educational for audiences seeking to understand one of America's most complex political figures.

Johnson served as president from 1963 to 1969 following John F. Kennedy's assassination. His presidency was marked by landmark civil rights achievements, including the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as well as his Great Society domestic programs. However, his legacy remains complicated by the escalation of the Vietnam War.

The one-man format allows Wallace to present an intimate portrayal of Johnson's personality and political struggles during a tumultuous period in American history.
