I agree with the letter sent from Mayor Kevin McKeown about Busy Bee Hardware store. They have been a part of Santa Monica before the days of the mega-giant hardware stores. In Santa Monica, we need to keep up with what is modern, new, and innovative, but we need to also honor the spirit of community and loyalty to what has made our city special to the people who live here.
Mayor McKeown has suggested a compromise rather than drastic surgery and that would be the most beneficial solution for all - just build the hospital a little bit smaller and the hardware store can stay.
