The eighth annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, offering community members of all ages an opportunity to dive into the new year with an invigorating ocean plunge.
The event begins at the Annenberg Community Beach House Guest Services kiosk for check-in before participants head to the beach. At approximately 10:15 a.m., participants will take a group plunge into the Pacific Ocean, followed by a 300-yard swim around a buoy for those wanting to test their stamina.
After the ocean experience, participants can head to the Annenberg Community Beach House pool, open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to warm up, enjoy complimentary hot chocolate or take photos with Pat the Polar Bear.
Admission is required for the pool, deck area and heated showers: $10 for adults, $5 for seniors age 60 and older, and $4 for youth ages 1-17.
The schedule includes pool opening and check-in at 10 a.m., ocean plunge at 10:15 a.m., a 300-yard buoy swim at 10:25 a.m., with the event ending at 2 p.m.
Santa Monica Harbor Patrol, Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguards and city of Santa Monica lifeguards will be on hand to support the ocean plunge and buoy swim.
