The way I figure it, Sarah Silverman owes me. A few years back some female friends from my apartment building and I decided to get a Netflix membership even though we had varying movie tastes. They preferred “Pride and Prejudice” and “Brokeback Mountain,” and I tended more toward “Munich” and “Sin City.” But the real trouble began when another friend (not in the group) recommended Silverman’s “Jesus Loves Magic” that he swore was brilliantly funny. When Netflix sent it out one of the women got it first. After only 15 minutes she was thoroughly repulsed and gave it to another women who didn’t last even that long. When the group finally handed me the movie it was with, “We’ve got to talk,” never a good sign. Suffice to say, the club disbanded thanks to “Jesus is Magic,” which by the way, was brilliantly funny.

Silverman stars in her own TV show on Comedy Central, “The Sarah Silverman Program” which recently begun its second season. The format of the show is simple.
