ORO GRANDE — There’s one Santa Monica-based baseball team left standing in the CIF-Southern Section playoffs.

Pacifica Christian defeated Riverside Prep, 11-4, Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Division 7 playoffs. The Seawolves advance to face Firebaugh today at North Venice Little League. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The game will be a rematch. The teams faced off earlier this season. Firebaugh won that meeting, 12-1, on May 4.

“They are pretty strong top to bottom,” Pacifica Christian head coach Julian Chavez said. “They are really good.”

He expects his team, winners of the Heritage League, to put up a better fight this time around.

“We want to show them that we’re a better team than that,” Chavez said.

Also in Division 7, No. 1 seeded New Roads fell to Animo Leadership, 13-8, on Friday on the road.

New Roads, which won the Coast League this season, finishes the season 18-6 overall and 8-0 in league.
