Bioluminescence lights up the Marina

An algae bloom may be turning daylight waters a shade of muddy red but the phenomenon is turning evening waves an electric blue. The phytoplankton bloom occurs when a species of the organism known as dinoflagellates reproduce rapidly in warmer and calmer waters. The algae are known to glow when disturbed leading to an eerie glow  among the waves.

A team from ProSup Shop in Marina Del Rey went out on their weekly Wednesday Sunset Paddle, and caught rare Avatar-like environment, driven by the algae bloom.
