# Body closes downtown intersection

A downtown intersection was closed for several hours Monday morning while authorities investigated a body found in the area.

Police officers and firefighters responded to a call on the 1500 block of 4th Street at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday morning for a report of a person on the sidewalk.

According to SMPD, officers found a man and began "live saving measures" until paramedics arrived and took over treatment. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was cleared and reopened at about 7 a.m.

SMPD said the man, about 30-years-old, appears to have fallen from the top of the nearby parking structure. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urge to call the Santa Monica Police Depart at [310-458-8495](tel:310-458-8495).
