SAMOHI — Santa Monica High School’s boys’ basketball team blew out rival Beverly Hills, 80-53, on Friday at home to stay in the hunt for the Ocean League title.

The win improves the Vikings to 7-1 in league, good for a first place tie with Inglewood, who also won on Friday.

Next for the Vikings is a rematch with Morningside on Tuesday on the road. It’s a rematch of a game that was decided in the final seconds by Samohi’s Jordan Mathews. A fight broke out after the game, prompting school officials to have police officers attend home games and some road games. The game begins at 7;30 p.m.

The Vikings complete the regular season on Thursday at Hawthorne.
