City of Malibu Puts Out a Call for Artists for a New Poetry Anthology
Published:

The City of Malibu Cultural Arts Commission is supporting a Call for Artists organized by Malibu Poet Laureate Dr. John Struloeff and the Poet Laureate Committee. Local poets are encouraged to submit original literary work for a new Poetry Anthology exploring the theme “Who We Are” by Friday, April 5, 2021.

Since many community members have come to Malibu from elsewhere, potential contributors are encouraged to focus on two facets of their lives: poems that depict the contributor’s Malibu life or poems that describe a previous time and setting in the contributor’s life. Additionally, the anthology will include biographical information from each chosen contributor that will allow readers to immerse themselves in the diverse lives and identities that make up Malibu.

Artists may submit an application and a poem through the City of Malibu’s website, MalibuCity.org/Poetry. For more information or assistance with online submissions, please contact Community Services Deputy Director Kristin Riesgo at KRiesgo@MalibuCity.org or call 310-456-2489, ext. 349.

For more information about the Poet Laureate program, visit the City’s Arts and Culture website at MalibuArtsandCulture.org/Poetry.
