Guaranteed to get your spine tingling and your blood flowing, Ellen Geer's adaptation of Bram Stoker's gothic horror novel, “Dracula,” plays at Theatricum Botanicum's outdoor theater in the dark and remote Topanga woods.

Dracula is a quintessential story of suspense and horror, boasting one of the most terrifying characters in literature: Centuries-old Count Dracula, whose diabolical passions prey upon the innocent, the helpless and the beautiful.

Unlike previous stage versions, including the 1927 play by John Balderston and Hamilton Deane upon which the 1931 film with Bela Lugosi was based, Geer remains faithful to the novel — a collage of letters, journal entries and newspaper clippings that fit together like the pieces of a puzzle to tell the tale. The result is a fresh look at this epic, supernatural and heartbreakingly human novel.

Dracula runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., July 28 through September 28\. Tickets are $20; seniors, students and members of Equity pay $15 and $18; children ages 7-14 are $8; children under 5 are free. The Theatricum Botanicum is located at 1419 North Topanga canyon Blvd. For tickets and information, call (310) 455-3723 or visit www.theatricum.com.
