Santa Monica’s streetscapes might be changing soon; city officials are determining replacement species for diseased or damaged street trees and want residents’ input.

The replacement tree recommendations are part of the Urban Forest Master Plan, which will be presented to the City Council for approval on Dec. 13.

Residents are encouraged to find out what might replace the trees on their streets. A full list of trees can be found online at santamonicatrees.com, or by calling the Public Landscape Division at (310) 458-8974.

If residents wish to comment on the selection, remarks may be submitted by e-mail to trees@smgov.net or by mail to Public Landscape Division, Attn: UFMPTF, 2600 Ocean Park Blvd., Santa Monica, Calif., 90405.

Residents can also make their comments in person at Urban Forest Task Force meetings on Sept. 7 and 14.

Residents will have until Sept. 14 to comment on the proposed replacement trees.
