That most romantic of all fairy tales, Cinderella, is being held over at Santa Monica Playhouse, Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., through March 28.

“You just can’t keep a good heroine down,” said Actors‚ Repertory Theatre mainstay John Waroff, who has been playing the charmingly befuddled King Osgood Isgood since the show’s world premiere in 1984\. “It’s simply amazing. Cinderella is still the single most requested family theatre musical in Santa Monica Playhouse history.”

Brought to life by Actors‚ Repertory Theatre, the professional resident acting company at Santa Monica Playhouse, and written and directed by the acclaimed team of Evelyn Rudie and Chris DeCarlo, this original version of Cinderella comes complete with the handsome prince, zany fairy godmother, silly stepsisters, jolly king and a zealously well-meaning stepmother, and features Celeste Akiki, Kate Burleigh, Rebecca Coombs, James Cooper, Cydne Moore, Graham Silbert, Catherine Tooke, Cammy Truong and John Waroff.

Tickets are $10 for children (12 and under) and $12 for adults. Reservations are necessary, and may be made by calling the playhouse box office at (310) 394-9779, ext. 2\. For more information, visit the playhouse Web site at SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com. Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 Fourth St., one block east of the Third Street Promenade.
