# Cinema on the street

To start off the summer, Downtown Santa Monica, Inc., a public-private management company that oversees Downtown on behalf of City Hall, will be screening a movie every Friday evening throughout the month of July between Wilshire Boulevard and Arizona Avenue.

“The Sandlot” (1993), which will be screened on July 6, is about a young boy’s adventures when he moves to a new town and learns to play baseball, making many friends on the way.

On July 13, “Ghostbusters” (1984) will be played. This comedy is about three unemployed professors who open a ghost removal business and endure many strange and hilarious situations.

The 2011 animated film “Rio” will be shown in 3D on July 20\. It relates the adventures between two rare birds, Blu and Jewel, who have been kidnapped and try to escape.

Academy-Award winner for best picture, “The Artist”, will be played on July 27\. The unique black-and-white silent film tells the story of the relationship between a silent film star and a rising actress.

Each movie will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. and will be free of charge. Parking will cost $5 after 6 p.m.
