While patrolling the area of 4th Street and Arizona Avenue, officers saw a subject walk against the pedestrian signal indicating not to cross the street. Officers stopped the subject in the 300 block of Arizona Avenue to issue him a citation. The subject was evasive and uncooperative. The subject became agitated. Officers determined the subject has an active warrant for his arrest for resisting arrest. As officers attempted to place him in handcuffs, a brief struggle ensued as the officers attempted to take him into custody. Officers were able to subdue his resistance and place him in handcuffs. Michael Gabriel Curls, 38, was arrested for restricting and obstructing an officer, pedestrian crossing against a signal and outside agency warrant. Bail was set at $45,000.

Crime Watch is culled from reports provided by the Santa Monica Police Department. These are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
