How does your garden grow? Find out how the city is making its plans to build one using less water.

City staff and representatives from the consulting firm Meléndrez Design Partners have begun designing the latest in a series of water-efficient demonstration gardens at Ashland Walk, considered an important corridor to the ocean for residents of Ocean Park and visitors to Main Street.

The public is asked to attend a meeting scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4, to get an update on the proposed garden components and express thoughts about the city’s ideas for the open space.

The meeting will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527 Fourth St. Metered parking is available at the Ken Edwards Center. Free three-hour parking is available at Santa Monica Place, across the street. The Ken Edwards Center is served by the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9\.
