Community Beach Clean-Up Set for Sunday Morning at Tower 26

Published:

Ocean Park Association will host a beach clean-up event Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon at Tower 26, where Ocean Park Boulevard meets the beach.

The volunteer effort welcomes participants of all ages, with no advance registration required. Organizers will provide cleanup supplies including gloves and trash bags to all volunteers.

A Heal the Bay representative will coordinate the cleanup as part of California's official Adopt-a-Beach program in partnership with the California Coastal Commission. The event begins with a brief orientation covering safety tips and data collection procedures before volunteers spread out along the sand to collect litter and debris.

Santa Monica City Council Member Dan Hall plans to attend the weekend cleanup, giving community members an opportunity to meet with their elected representative while participating in the environmental effort.

The casual, drop-in volunteer activity aims to make the beach cleaner and safer for all users. Families, students and neighbors from throughout the community are encouraged to participate.

Participants need only bring sunscreen and a willingness to help, as all other supplies will be provided on-site. Those interested can simply arrive at Tower 26 by 10 a.m. on Sunday to join the effort.

The Ocean Park Association regularly organizes these community clean-up events, promoting them through newsletters and social media with the message that "supplies are provided and everyone is welcome."

The July 27 event represents part of ongoing local efforts to maintain Santa Monica's beaches through volunteer community action. The Adopt-a-Beach program connects local clean-up efforts with statewide coastal conservation initiatives.

Tower 26 is located at the intersection of Ocean Park Boulevard and the beach, providing easy access for volunteers arriving by car or on foot from the surrounding neighborhood.
