Wells Fargo has announced that it awarded $69,160 to Santa Monica area nonprofit organizations last year.

Wells Fargo funded 18 non-profit organizations that support community development, education, human services and cultural/civic projects throughout the community. These groups included the Santa Monica City College Foundation, Los Angeles Chamber Inc., Saint Monica’s Church, Heal the Bay, CLARE Foundation, the Santa Monica Special Olympics, the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary, the Liberty Hill Foundation, Performing Arts for Children and Reprise.

For the third consecutive year, Wells Fargo contributed more than $10 million to non-profit organizations in Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and west San Bernardino counties in 2004, making it the largest corporate contributor to nonprofits in the greater Los Angeles area. In addition, Wells Fargo team members contributed almost 16,000 hours in volunteer time to work on community projects throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and west San Bernardino counties.

Nationwide this year, Wells Fargo awarded $93 million to more than 15,000 nonprofit organizations, an increase of almost $10 million over 2003\.
