# Clarification: City Hall lacks staff to notify owners of seismic retrofit needs

CLARIFICATION — In the Oct. 28 issue of the Santa Monica Daily Press, an article entitled “Leaders shaken by earthquake report” did not make clear why City Hall has not properly notified property owners that their buildings need to be seismically retrofitted to bring them into current code. The reason they haven’t been notified is because City Hall doesn’t have sufficient resources in the building and safety department to notify them.
