The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors is hosting a free community open house Saturday, Sept. 27, to gather input on making Marina del Rey more welcoming and accessible to all residents.

The Marina del Rey For All Community Open House will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Earvin "Magic" Johnson Recreation Center, 12645 Wadsworth Ave., Los Angeles.

The event is designed to give residents, particularly those from inland neighborhoods historically excluded from Marina planning, the opportunity to share ideas and help shape the future of Los Angeles' marina.

Attendees can explore interactive stations, speak with community partners and learn about programs and opportunities available at the marina. Residents will be asked to share ideas on creating a marina that reflects the county's diverse populations.

The open house will feature free food, children's activities and raffles. Prizes include vouchers for free WaterBus rides and a new iPad. Attendees can also win totes filled with beach essentials and exclusive Marina del Rey experiences from the Marina del Rey Tourism Board.

The Marina del Rey For All initiative is led by the Department of Beaches and Harbors with support from Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell. The program aims to ensure all county residents can enjoy the publicly owned marina land for recreation and family activities.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors manages Marina del Rey harbor and 23 miles of beaches along the county coastline, including Zuma, Malibu Surfrider, Venice and Manhattan beaches.
