*By Rick Singerman Santa Monica*

Are we as a nation really so scared of an attack on America that we are willing to trash the Fourth Amendment? Why would our leaders possibly give immunity to the Telcos without knowing the facts and extent of the wiretapping? Was this systematic eavesdropping program started before 9/11, as has been reported? With so many questions, just the idea that so many of those in Congress and the Senate are willing to blindly allow immunity suggests that they truly do not believe in the Constitution or the American people.

Does anybody believe that anything has come from these illegal wiretaps, except maybe busting Gov. Spitzer for hiring a prostitute? Certainly no terrorist attack has been thwarted or it would have been all over the front pages, telling us what a great job Bush is doing and keeping us out of harm’s way. Please stop this runaway presidency from trashing our most precious document any further.

Allow me to remind anyone reading this note — the Constitution is what separates America from the rest of the world. It is the reason why our forefathers originally came to America and therefore the reason for our very existence as a country. Now that we condone torture, conduct illegal wiretapping and publicly identify our own covert CIA agents over politics, our Constitution is quickly becoming shredded beyond repair.
