# Cops looking for woman cashing bogus checks

PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Santa Monica police officers are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman suspected of cashing several bogus checks worth an estimated $30,000.  
The suspect has been seen entering several financial institutions between February and May of 2012, where she then produces a counterfeit check with the forged signature of the victim to be cashed, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis in a press release issued Thursday.  
The suspect is described as an African-American female, 25 to 30 years old, thing build with dark eyes and long, straight dark hair.  
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Robert D'Andrea at (310) 458-2201 ext. 6679, Sgt. Henry Ramirez at (310) 458-8453 or the watch commander at (310) 458-8495.  
Anyone wishing to remain anonymous, can call We-Tip at (800) 78-CRIME or submit the tip online at www.wetip.com. Those who provide tips are eligible for a reward up to $1,000, police said. Tipsters can also contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or by visiting their website at www.lacrimestoppers.org. Texting tips can also be done by visiting the website.
