The seventh annual festival of unknown films and actors will end this Wednesday with the film “The Discontents” at Santa Monica’s Laemmle four-plex theater. The week-long “Dances With Films” festival will have screened more than 90 feature films and shorts, with subjects ranging from growing pains to murder mysteries. Unlike films with Hollywood stars or directors, these movies and shorts champion the underdog in hopes of catapulting them into the spotlight.

“We’re an exciting alternative to all those blockbusters you could see at the theater,” said Leslee Scallon, the festival’s co-founder.

The Laemmle is located at 1211 Second Street, between Santa Monica Boulevard and Arizona Avenue. Information on the films and showtimes can be found at www.danceswithfilms.com.
