*By Stewart Resmer Santa Monica*

Yet again another young person has been shot and killed on Pico at a place where many others come to eat and shop. And a good family grieves at their loss.

I know that the police are doing everything that they can to prevent and solve such crimes — several weeks ago officers were shot at, and in a car chase the police exchanged gunfire with, and felled a criminal intent on his escape.

It’s far too many times now in Santa Monica that these things happen, this is neither the wild west nor the streets of Baghdad, but still the statistics sober the observer.

So what I would say is be a part of the solution? Support the family that has lost a promising son who by all accounts had no ties to such as those who did this deed most foul, shooting down an unarmed person where we live?

Stand up for our community by declaring we do not forget what has been done yet again and we are one in watching out for one another.

Take to streets and carry this message to those who skulk in the shadows today.
