On Aug. 26 at about 7:18 a.m.

  
SMPD Officers were dispatched to the area of the 3000 block of Bentley Ct. to investigate and Assault With A Deadly Weapon. Comments of the call indicated a female suspect attempted to stab the victim with gardening shears.

  
When officers arrived on scene they met with a victim that told them that he received a call from a neighbor about a female, later identified as Alison Marie Fogarty, a 39 year old female of Santa Monica, who was trying to steal his neighbor's plants. The victim approached Fogarty and exchanged some words with her. At some point during their interaction, Fogarty made several attempts to stab the victim. The victim was able to grab the shears and pull them away from Fogarty's grasp, inadvertently cutting his hand.

  
Fogarty left and went into an apartment building nearby, however came back out when police arrived. She was taken into custody and booked for 245(a)(1) PC - Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
