On Sunday, August 22 at 2:53 p.m.
Officers responded to Vons on the 700 block of Broadway regarding an Arson. Upon arrival, an SMPD fire captain relayed that a bathroom inside Vons was on fire. The store manager showed surveillance footage that showed an individual walking into the bathroom and smoke coming out of it shortly after. The individual was then attended to by SMFD due to a laceration he had sustained on his hand. After reviewing footage, Valentin Sanchez Jr. was arrested for 451(B) PC- Arson.
