On Sept. 26 at approximately 6:45 p.m.
Officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call near the 1900 block of Ocean Way. Dispatched relayed that an individual was attempting to strike passersby with a glass bottle and was being held down by victims in the area. Witnesses stated a fight had started over a previous incident where a local taco stand was providing those experiencing homelessness in the area with coffee, but decided to suspend the gesture after those served where making a mess in the area. When denied further free coffee, the suspect, Ryan Urrutia, 31 years old, lashed out at the cart owners. Urrutia was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
