On Friday, Oct. 22, at 11:45 p.m.
SMPD officers responded to a call near the 300 block of Santa Monica Blvd regarding a possible assault that had occurred. A suspect was accused of throwing bricks at a security guard and passersby from the rooftop of a neighboring building. With the help of the Santa Monica Fire Department, officers gain access to the roof where suspect, Nicholas Upton, 32 years old from Santa Monica, was located. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Santa Monica Jail.
