ON THURSDAY, AUG. 24 AT 11:41 P.M., Santa Monica Police officers stopped a man in the 1400 block of Second Street for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk. During the investigation officers discovered a lap top computer. The suspect did not have any information regarding the computer, police said. He allegedly told officers that he purchased the computer from an unknown person and could not provide a receipt. The bicyclist was arrested for possession of stolen property and transported to the Santa Monica Jail, where he was held until the owner of the laptop could be contacted. After further inspection of the computer, officers located the owner, at which time he said he had left his computer in his car, which was parked and locked. When officers went with the man to his car, they discovered that his window had been smashed and a camera, as well as the computer were missing. Both items were recovered from the suspect in custody, who was charged with burglary. He was identified as Mark Anthony Wise, 26, of Los Angeles. No bail was set because of a parole violation.

He continued to tell the cameraman to give him the money or that he would kill him, police said. The cameraman left the park and called the SMPD. Officers took a report of the incident. The dealership notified the man, who said that he had not given anyone permission to use his identification to purchase a car. A salesman told the suspect that his car would be ready the following day and to show up at the dealership to pick it up.
