Crime Watch is a weekly snapshot of the Santa Monica Police Department, culled from their own reports. The following are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 30, AT 1:15 P.M., Santa Monica police officers responded to the corner of Sixth Street and Arizona Avenue regarding an assault and battery investigation. When officers arrived, they made contact with a woman who said she was crossing the street when a car turned in front of her, almost running her over. The woman said she slammed her fist on the trunk of the car as it passed. The driver then parked, jumped out and threw her to the ground, police said. The woman managed to get away from the driver and call police. Witnesses followed the driver, who drove to the 1500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard and parked. He went into one of the businesses where he was arrested by police and positively identified by the victim. The suspect was arrested for assault and battery. He was identified as Peter Tenen, 76, Los Angeles. His bail was set at $20,000.

FRIDAY, JAN. 4, AT 6:40 P.M., Police responded to the 3000 block of Ocean Park Boulevard— Caruso Tailoring — regarding an armed robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived they spoke with an employee at the store who said a suspect walked in with a semi-automatic handgun and ordered the employee to the back of the store, where he demanded money. The suspect made off with the employee’s wallet, which contained $200 and credit cards. Using a forensic specialist, officers were able to identify the suspect, who was arrested on Feb. 1 in the 2900 block of Ocean Park Boulevard. The suspect was booked for armed robbery. He was identified as James Bradley, Jr., 24, of Montebello. Bail was set at $50,000.

SUNDAY, JAN. 27, AT 6:12 P.M., Officers responded to the 2200 block of Lincoln Boulevard — Ameci’s Pizza and Pasta — regarding a grand theft auto investigation. When officers arrived they made contact with a woman who said she was eating at the restaurant when she went up to the counter, leaving her purse at her table. When the woman returned, she said her purse was missing. She went out to her car in the parking lot, thinking that she left it there. When she couldn’t locate the purse, she went back into the restaurant to talk with employees to see if they had picked up the purse by mistake. That’s when the woman said she saw her car being driven out of the parking lot. She called police to report the theft. Officers on patrol observed the car in question being driven erratically along Pico Boulevard. Officers followed the vehicle to the 1500 block of Pacific Street, where the driver jumped out of the car and fled on foot. He was found hiding in bushes in the 1400 block of Grand Street. The victim positively identified the suspect and he was transported to the Santa Monica Jail where he was booked for grand theft auto, resisting arrest, driving under the influence and for hit and run. The suspect was identified as Sean William Veteto of Flagstaff, Arizona. His bail was set at $45,000.

TUESDAY, JAN. 29, AT 11 A.M., Police responded to the 200 block of Pico Boulevard regarding a theft that just occurred. When officers arrived they made contact with a man who said he was minding his own business when he was approached by two suspects who asked him for money so they could buy something to eat. The man said he did not have any money, just a $10 gift card from Jack in the Box. As one of the suspects talked with the man, the other allegedly reached into the man’s coat pocket and lifted the gift card. The two suspects then walked away. The man realized a few minutes later that his card was missing and notified police. Armed with a description of the suspects, officers were able to locate them in the 700 block of Pico Boulevard. The two were positively identified by the victim and placed under arrest for theft. The suspects were identified as Samuel Fowler, 37, and Victor Silva Montenegro, 54, both transients. No bail was set because the suspects were on parole, police said.

THURSDAY, JAN. 31, AT 12:40 P.M., Officers responded to the 2500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — CVS Pharmacy — regarding a strong arm robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived they made contact with a store employee who said the suspect walked into the store and tried to pay for several items with a personal check that would not go through. When the employee told the suspect that he could not purchase the items with the check because it would not go through, the suspect allegedly became argumentative and began to walk out of the store with the items in his hand. The employee tried to stop the suspect, but the suspect pushed the employee, a female, to the ground. A scuffle ensued with another employee who detained the suspect until police arrived. A security camera capture the incident. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for strong arm robbery. He was identified as George Fredrik Pettersson, 46, a transient. His bail was set at $50,000.

THURSDAY, JAN. 31, AT 4:30 A.M., Officers on routine patrol in the 1500 block of Ocean Avenue saw a pedestrian throw some trash into the street. Officers approached the man to issue him a citation for littering. Officers sensed that the suspect was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and placed him under arrest. Officers searched the suspect and found a small glass pipe commonly used to smoke cocaine. The suspect was arrested for being under the influence and for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was identified as Daren Marvin Olsen, 33, a transient. His bail was set at $50,000.
